My 18 minutes of TEDx

SO. In case you missed this on Facebook, I went to TEDxYouth@Anaikatti and spoke to a bunch of teens (and some grown ups) on Serendipity. Watch, watch. And tell me what you think!

  6. Err- I've just been a regular lurker for about 2 years now, and this is the first time I actually *heard* you speak! Like even the trivial fact that the voice conveying the things you've said earlier as well was not the one in my head but yours, had an immense impact!
I just want to say that keep going! You are one of the very few people that make me *believe* in so many things that pop culture seems to pass off as crass!

  7. Hi Judy, a very interesting talk. I stumbled upon the blog a few weeks back and am liking it a lot. Hoping to go through all the old stuff soon!

  8. Shut Up and Stay Put! That's exactly what I needed to hear. This will put my noisy head to rest. Thanks :)

  9. I have been a lurker for a while now and I have enjoyed several of your articles. However, I felt the idea you shared in this talk was, in my opinion, not quite there.

The fact is that you did not just sit simply. Physically, yes, you probably did not go anywhere and mentally, you didn't seek anything. However, you did perform action. You wrote and then you followed the impetus you felt. You worked (I am sure you put in a lot of effort too!). The only difference being, you probably didn't do it in order to achieve something. The success came as a result of your action - detached action ('Letting go of the result').

Life does take unexpected turns and your actions might lead to roads and paths you never imagined - 'serendipity' that you were talking about. The event or period where you are blessed with what you probably need rather than what you thought you want. In any case, I don't think that comes from inaction.

I think it is a misleading to not to really dig into what you are talking about; especially to youngsters. Just saying something as 'Shut up and Stay put' explains nothing. What do you mean by 'Stay put'? Stay in the same place? Don't go out anywhere? Or are you talking about stillness of the mind? Nobody got anywhere without doing something - even if means doing nothing - like meditate.

Maybe all this is what you were trying to talk about but it didn't come across clearly at all.

    My 2 cents.

It's OKAY if you just want to lurk.
